Do I have to have my eyes dilated at the time of my exam?
Dilation of your pupils allows Dr. Finegan to examine the inside of your eyes for any potential medical problems, such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Why do I need a driver when my eyes will be dilated?
Dilating drops frequently blur vision for a length of time which varies from person to person and their effects may last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours. They may also make bright lights bothersome. Dark sunglasses may make you feel more comfortable until the dilating drops wear off. Because driving may be difficult immediately after your exam, we recommend having someone else drive for you.
Will my insurance cover my eye exam?
Eye exam coverage varies with each insurance company. Services which are medically necessary and appropriate may not always be covered by your insurance plan. Your benefit booklet or a phone call to your insurance company may assist you with finding out the details of your coverage and if we are a participating provider.
Do I have to pay my copay at the time of my visit?
We do appreciate payment of your copay at the time of your exam.
How long will my eye exam take?
A dilated eye exam will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
